As many of you know, I´m part of a burlesque/theatre troupe, The Full Moon Players by Viva LaMore/Victoria Linchong, Newyorkese/taiwanese director, burlesque performer and filmmaker.
You´ve probably seen the dance theatre movements of her three choreographies on Little Boxes, Lilith, and On The Run!
And I told you about our tour to London as well, did I? When we played 5 epic nights of Full Moon Cabaret and also these three songs and choreographies in Courtyard Theatre, Shoreditch?
Also that a friend of Victoria, choreographer and filmmaker Lucy Red Shoes, was currently shooting for her dance documentary “I am not a village” about the gentrification and speculation issues in London suburb Hackney?
But for sure, that Lucy fell in instant love with “Little Boxes” (I played it again after the show for her on the ratty piano in the theatre foyer) and wanted me to perform it in her movie?
So she invited the whole troupe to be part of her movie, and made room for the scene to be shot on our only free day before our last show.
And I learned in one hour how to play the song on the ukulele because that was her first idea 😀
I will do the song again for the same movie in a piano setup but that´s not even scheduled. And right now everyone in Berlin (and elsewhere) is talking about room to live, about speculation and big bad landlords/ladies. So I decided to make the video NOW before the movie is published, and give it to you, with some things to talk about.

on April 12th, we´ll play a charity show for Drugstore, a Punk venue in Berlin which was thrown out for being too loud and dirty. The whole process was barely legal, and the Berlin Senate offered them new quarters – but you can´t make live concerts there either. So they do it in different places now, and we are honoured to present April´s Drugstore night with Gruftschlampen and Les Pleureues – a full female fronted feckin´ cabaret punk line up!
I´ll stream that too but live will BE. A. BLAST. Try to be there.

Und daß eine Freundin von Victoria, die Choreographin und Filmemacherin Lucy Red Shoes, zu derselben Zeit ihre Tanzdokumentation “I am not a village” über die Gentrifizierung und Spekulation im Londoner Stadtteil Hackney drehte?
Aber doch bestimmt, daß Lucy sich sofort in “Little Boxes” verliebte (Ich hab ihr den Song nach der Show noch einmal vorgespielt auf dem Klapprigen Klavier im Theaterfoyer) und wollte, daß ich den Song in ihrem Film performe?
Also lud sie die ganze Truppe ein, Teil ihres Films zu werden, und warf extra den Drehplan um, damit wir die Szene an unserem einzigen freien Tag vor unserer letzten Show drehen konnten. (Und ich habe noch schnell innerhalb einer Stunde gelernt, den Song auf der Ukulele zu spielen, das war nämlich ihre erste Idee!)
Ich werde noch einen Take für denselben Film drehen, wo ich den Song auf dem Klavier in einer Bar spiele. Aber dieser Drehtag ist noch nicht einmal angesetzt. Und gerade jetzt reden alle in Berlin (und anderswo) über Raum zum Leben, Spekulation und große böse Vermieter/innen.
Also habe ich beschlossen, das Video JETZT zu machen, bevor der Film und der Soundtrack veröffentlicht werden, und Euch zu geben, mit einigen Denkanstößen dazu.

Am 12. April spielen wir eine Benefizshow für das Punk- und Jugendzentrum Drugstore, ehemals Potsdamer Strasse, Berlin. Zu laut und dreckig für die teurer werdende Nachbarschaft, also rausgeworfen. Was kaum noch als legal durchgehen konnte, daher bot der Senat ein Ausweichquartier an – doch da sind erst recht keine Konzerte möglich. Also finden die nun woanders statt, diesmal im Schicksaal des Tommy-Weissgerber-Hauses in Mitte.
WIr sind stolz, diese Nacht präsentieren zu dürfen, und bringen zusammen mit den Gruftschlampen (Supamolly) und Les Pleureuses ein umwerfendes und außergewöhnliches frauengeführtes Cabaret Punk Lineup auf die Bühne!
Ich versuche es zu streamen. Aber live wird es DER. HAMMER. Versuch zu kommen.
