A song about and from a Second Wife. Love, these days, goes complicated ways, it always did, but now, patchwork famiies are around. Many voices exist for the children, for the single mothers, and even some for the single dads, but none for their new partners of whom the world expects to be either the evil stepmother or to accept that the kids always and ever come first, and even their mum is more important in some way. It´s not easy to accept this, it´s not easy to appreciate the great gift life gives one as such, when you are feeling forgotten on a regular basis. So I made this song. Everything is easier when there is a song about it.

The video (shot by Keren Chernizon who also did AFTERLIFE and NO LIFE ON MARS with me in the past) features the amazing Tango couple (not a couple) Liliana Velasquez and Diego Ocampos. Liliana co-stars with me in the FULL MOON CABARET and ased me if there was any Tango I wanted to do while her partner visited Berlin for a photo exhibition of their art. I immediately brought up this song because I always had pictured the video with Tango Argentino in, one of my former lives.

Liebe geht dieser Tage merkwürdige Wege, na gut, das war immer schon so, aber heutzutage gibt es außerdem Patchworfamilien. Und es gibt viele (wenn auch nie genug) Stimmen für die Kinder, die Single-Mütter, sogar inzwischen die Single-Väter, aber keine für deren neue Partner/innen. Von uns erwartet die Welt entweder, daß wir uns als die böse Stiefmutter aus dem Märchen entpuppen, oder einfach zu akzeptieren, daß das Kind immer, jedesmal, zuerst kommt, und manchmal deswegen sogar die Kindsmutter, die Ex, wichtiger ist als man selbst.
Das ist nicht leicht. Und es ist auch nicht leicht, dieses große Geschenk, was das Leben Dir da hinwirft, als solches wahrzunehmen, während Du Dich selbst immer wieder fühlst wie bestellt und nicht abgeholt.
Deshalb habe ich diesen Song gemacht, und das Video. Alles im Leben ist leichter, wenn es einen Song darüber gibt.

Das Video wurde gedreht von Keren Chernizon, mit der ich schon bei AFTERLIFE und NO LIFE ON MARS zusammengearbeitet habe. Die Stars sind das aussergewöhnliche Tangopaar Liliana Velasquez und Diego Ocampos. Liliana habe ich bei unseren Burlesque-Shows mit dem Full Moon Cabaret kennengelernt, und als Diego zur Eröffnung ihrer gemeinsamen Ausstellung nach Berlin kommen sollte, fragte sie mich nach Tangoprojekten. (Natürlich wußte sie, daß ich in einem meiner früheren Leben Tangosängerin und -tänzerin war.) Ich habe sofort YOUR LIFE im Kopf gehabt, da ich diesen Song immer schon mit Tango Argentino visualisieren wollte. Es ist schließlich ein Tango-Walzer.
